Abstract
For more than three years, the EU-MATHS-IN Industrial has been developing transverse influences to advertise the role of Digital Twins at the service of European industry, as a key enabler for advanced products and connected services. Digital Twins has also spread to growing areas like health and climate monitoring. Behind this buzzword, the complementarity of first principle modelling and data analytics plays an instrumental role. In the present article, we depict the context and the opportunities, the European environment with its funded programs, some open software platforms, and most importantly a mathematical toolbox to address the underlying challenges, all of which testify to the tremendous vitality of this field.
