Let RR be any ring and let 0ABC00 \rightarrow A\rightarrow B\rightarrow C\rightarrow 0 be an exact sequence of RR-modules which does not split with AA and CC uniserial. Then either BB is indecomposable or BB has a decomposition of the form B=B1B2B=B_{1}\oplus B_{2} where B1B_1 and B2B_2 are indecomposable and at least one of them is uniserial.
