Abstract
Dominant dimension is a little known homological dimension, which is, however, crucial in many respects, both for abstractly studying finite dimensional algebras and their representation theory, and for applications to group algebras or in algebraic Lie theory. Various aspects and recent applications of dominant dimension will be outlined and illustrated.
