Abstract
This survey aims to provide an elementary introduction to the structure and representation theory of diagram algebras, by a slightly expanded version of the author’s lectures given at the workshop preceding ICRA XII at Toruń . The goal is to inform experts in representation theory of finite dimensional algebras about current results and problems in the emerging area of diagram algebras.
