Abstract
It was in the early eighties that Elliott Lieb, while on a visit to the Courant Institute, explained to Donsker and the second author what the Polaron problem and Pekar’s conjecture on the asymptotic behavior of the ground state energy of the Fröhlich Polaron was. We gather some old and new results on the Polaron problem on the occasion of the 90th birthday of Elliott Lieb.
