Suppose that GG is a finite π\pi-separable group. A classical result asserts that all irreducible characters of a Hall π\pi-subgroup HH of GG extend to GG if and only if HH has a normal complement in GG. Now, we fix a prime pp and analyze when only the pp'-degree irreducible characters of HH extend to GG.
