Following the abstract approach of , we give a general mm-max principle in critical point theory which covers the classical results and applies to a variety of settings. Especially, thanks to the notion of weak slope introduced in and results of , this principle applies to continuous functionals and some classes of lower semicontinuous functionals considered in the literature.
