L2O Webinar on June 15, 2026
EMS Press invites librarians, editors, researchers and others interested in scholarly publishing to join a webinar on Launch to Open (L2O).

Webinar title: Launch to Open: A community-driven path to OA
When: 15:00 CEST, 15th June 2026
Where: EMS Zoom (registration required for Zoom link)
Summary
Launch to Open is a new approach to open access publishing, designed to combine full transparency with long-term sustainability and a strong commitment to community-led scholarship. In this webinar, EMS Press CEO André Gaul, Foundations of Computational Mathematics Editor-in-Chief Markus Bachmayr, and Archiv der Mathematik Managing Editor Gabriele Nebe will share the story behind the model.
Together, they will explore why Launch to Open was created, how it works, and why the journals involved chose to move away from a commercial publisher toward a community-based alternative. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the model, the journals it supports, and the broader role it could play in the future of open access publishing, with time for questions at the end.
