Whether you're a researcher or a student, becoming an EMS member supports research and solidarity initiatives within the mathematical community. Discover more about membership benefits and eligibility for reduced membership fees!
The European Mathematical Society (EMS) unites mathematicians at all career stages - from students to researchers - along with national societies and research centers across Europe. Our mission is to promote the development of all aspects of mathematics: research, education, mathematical outreach, and addressing inequalities in the field.
The EMS actively promotes solidarity initiatives that strengthen the mathematics community and support research worldwide. These initiatives rely uniquely on the support of our members, making your membership not just a personal benefit but a contribution to the entire mathematical community.
Why become a member?
Joining the EMS is primarily an act of solidarity, but we are continuously working to expand the range of benefits available to our members, which currently include:
20% discount on all EMS Press books
Reduced registration fees for the European Congress of Mathematics (ECM) and some EMS co-sponsored meetings
Free access to all issues of the Journal of the European Mathematical Society
Printed version of the EMS Magazine, published four times a year
Discounted subscriptions to journals published by EMS Press
Additionally, we are developing new initiatives specifically designed for early career researchers, including:
A Mentor-Mentee Programme for EMS members, aimed at connecting our experienced members with younger ones within the EMS community, to support their professional development
A series of professional development webinars, free for EMS members
